What is the Good News of Jesus?

Every single human being has committed cosmic treason against the King of All. We have sinned against Him (Romans 5:12). We were dead in our sins with no hope (Ephesians 2:1-3). But God who is rich in mercy sent Jesus (Ephesians 2:5-6). Jesus is the second person of the Trinity. He is truly God and truly man. The Gospel of John says that the Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us (1:14). He lived perfectly and did not sin. He died a substitutionary death upon the cross. In our place condemned He stood. He died in the place of sinners bearing God’s wrath (Matthew 1:21, John 19:30, Hebrews 2:17). BUT, He did not stay in the grave. He rose again on the third day (Luke 24:1-12). That those who believe in Him, placing their faith in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Those in Christ have gone from being dead in sin to being made alive in Him (Romans 6:1-14). This is the good news. This is the gospel of God. Jesus saves sinners. He is sufficient.

This gospel, Christians are called to declare to the world.

Jesus talks about this commission in Matthew 28:18-20.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

This Great Commission is given by the Lord. Christians go to their neighbors and to the nations under His authority. We don’t go by our own authority. We preach Christ and God will bring His people to behold Him.

The Christian will die whenever the Lord wills. We will quit breathing whenever He wills. He has us in His grip. Some of us may go to the nations, some of us may plant churches, some of us may be regular moms and dads, some of us may be faithful workers of the harvest. Every single Christian will live as long as the Lord wills and we will work diligently in sharing this news. We will rest in Him and we will one day see Him face to face.

If you are trusting in Jesus by faith, rest well in Him and you will have a seat at The King’s Table. If you are not trusting in the Lord Jesus to save you from your sins, repent and trust in Jesus.

We only get one life and it will soon pass. Only what is done for Christ will last!
