Q&A with Dr. Ibrahim

Tell us about yourself?

I was born and raised in Egypt. I have been serving as the Jenkins Professor of Islamic Studies at SBTS since 2015. My wife and I serve Arabs in the US and the Middle East.

What led to writing this book?

I have written this book for those who have a passion for Jesus but who may know nothing about Islam and possibly do not know any Muslims. As Christians befriend Muslims, it is important to learn and know what Islam teaches. This was written not only to help encourage Christians to befriend their Muslim neighbors, but also help Christians learn to communicate the Gospel as well.

What do you hope readers will take away from Reaching Your Muslim Neighbors with the Gospel?

My aim in writing this book is to exhort readers to evangelize Muslims with confidence and boldness. Most Westerners are too intimidated to talk about Islam, let alone to begin proclaiming the gospel to a Muslim neighbor. But Christians should be confident that there are compelling answers to Islamic charges. Believers should be “prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).
