Article II: The Manifestation of God’s Love
But this is how God showed His love: He sent His only begotten Son into the world, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
As we saw in Article I Adam sinned therefore we sinned and deserve condemnation, and God would have been just to give us exactly what we deserved. He didn’t do that though, He sent His Son to redeem us from sin and the curse it brought. This Article is aptly titled “The Manifestation of God’s Love” and what an extreme love it is. God loves us so much that even though we transgressed His holy, good and perfect law He put forth His Son. His only Son. His only Son who NEVER sinned. God sent His blameless perfect eternal Son into this rebellious God hating world so that whoever trusts in Jesus will not receive what they deserve! This is glorious Gospel. We sinned, sin=death. Christ was sinless, sinlessness=life, but He received death and wrath so that we can receive mercy.
This is absolutely a manifestation of God’s love and it is the direct opposite of what we deserve. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” John 3:16-17 If you trust in Jesus Christ you will receive as a gift from the Lord the opposite of what your sin deserves. If you trust in Christ Jesus you can be represented by Him and not Adam. When God saves you, you are no longer represented by or united to Adam, you are united to and represented by Christ the perfect Lamb of God. “For as by the one man’s (Adam) disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s (Christ) obedience the many will be made righteous.”Rom. 5:19
