Book Briefs: “Paul’s Theology of Preaching”

By Evan Knies

Duane Litfin is president emeritus of Wheaton College, where he served for seventeen years. He is the author of numerous articles and books.

Have you ever wondered how to engage the culture in your preaching? Have you ever wondered how Paul engaged the culture? How did Paul establish his sermons and how does it impact our preaching today?

Through this work, Duane Litfin carefully articulates what it looks like. He has this book divided into three parts: Paul’s Rhetoric, Exegesis of 1 Corinthians 1-4, and Summary. Litfin dives into the text of 1 Corinthians, which is extremely beneficial for the reader.

How will this book help the Church in the South?

1. I don’t think we can have enough books to help us explain/exegete the scripture.

2. Readers can learn how to speak and engage the culture through the work of this book.

3. Pastors, Scholars, and Church Members need to focus on Christ and Him Crucified. This work wants you to do that! The gospel is the goal! Gospel clarity!
