He is also the editor of the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society (JETS). Richard Patterson is distinguished professor emeritus at Liberty University.

Brief Summary:

For the Love of God’s Word is an abridged version of Invitation to Biblical Interpretation. This work shows the overarching storyline found in the scripture and gives the reader the proper hermeneutic. It is divided into 3 parts: History, Literature, and Theology. For a pastor/reader who has never studied any proper hermeneutics, this work will be a beneficial read. While Invitation to Biblical Interpretation may be directed more toward seminary students, this work is definitely an ideal work for pastors/laymen. This book will leave you with a grasp of the whole bible.

Why should someone pick up and read this book?

1. The authors love the Bible. They understand different genres and they address them accordingly.
2. They present the whole storyline of Scripture. The 66 books of the Bible are united, and the authors clearly show how!
3. For pastors preaching the whole canon, this book will help them grasp the overarching narrative much better.
4. Any book that seeks to help pastors grasp God’s Word should be welcomed. The Church needs both preachers and laymen who are equipped  to preach the whole Bible.
5. If you’re a Christian, you should have a love for God’s Word. This book is a helpful reminder.
